Family Day at the Lotus Blossoms World Bazaar is a free multicultural arts-and-education event for kids and parents. Volunteers from the Bloomington community (and around the world) present arts, music, language, and international crafts that let kids get their hands on the world.
2012 Family Day at the Lotus Blossoms Bazaar:
Saturday, March 31
- 11 a.m – 2 p.m. at Binford Elementary School (2300 E. 2nd St., Bloomington)

- Explore and discover:Eastern European egg decoration • Read around the World • Tibetan windhorse flags to make and take • Kuba cloth weaving • Foods around the World • Musical gourds • Crafting across Cultures • Face painting • Middle Eastern dance • Badge making • Musical instruments from around the world • Ceramics demonstrations • Worm farming • Toys and games of China • Exploring Japan • Ancient ceramics • Native American “parflech” stachels • World stamps bookmarks • Decorating bookmarks with Congolese fabrics • Mural-painting inspired by the art of T.C. Steele • and lots more!
- In the Performance Corner: Ritmos Latinos salsa dance (11 a.m.); Appalachian flat-foot clogging with Tamara Loewenthal and Tess Flynn (11:45); Jungle Joe’s Flea Circus (12:20); Banat Mara’s Middle Eastern Dance (1:00); Prieboy Percussion (1:40) — schedule subject to change
- Appropriate for all ages, but especially fun for kids K-6th grade
- Children must be accompanied by parents/guardians
