Mames Babegenush comes to Lotus from the vibrant cultural milieu of Copenhagen. Firmly rooted in klezmer, the six-member ensemble nonetheless crosses musical boundaries, blending this classic Jewish music with genres as diverse as tango, rock, cumbia, electronica, and Israeli folk music. Their dynamic, past-meets-present take on klezmer is designed to invigorate one of the world’s most recognizable dance genres.
