Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three

“It’s not retro music,” says Pokey LaFarge, “it’s American music that never died.” This St. Louis quartet plays a creative mix of early jazz, string ragtime, country blues and western swing — music  “you’d expect to hear if you were riding the wind in your ’38 Chevy pickup down a Midwest back turnpike” (Acoustic Magazine). The quartet performs original music, too; this isn’t an Americana tribute band. With Pokey on rhythm guitar, Joey Glynn on upright bass, Adam Hoskins on archtop guitar, and Ryan Koenig on washboard, harmonica, and snare drum.
