Ali Amr is a vocalist, composer, and qanun player who grew up in the Palestinian territories; Palestinian percussionist Tareq Rantisi was born in Jerusalem and grew up performing in Ramallah. Both young men are studying at the Berklee College of Music, and regularly perform with musicians as diverse as oud master Simon Shaheen and jazz drummer Jack DeJohnette. Together with Indian master percussionist and vocalist Srinivas Krishnan, they perform music from Palestinian and Indian classical traditions – as well as capturing the improvisational spirit of Western jazz.
