Vida was born in Bloomington in the mid ‘90s, when four young women discovered that their voices blended beautifully in acappella harmonies. Moira Smiley, Jessica Pease, Sarah Ferrell, and Stephanie Heidemann eventually pursued separate careers, but they are regrouping in a Vida Reunion this year for Lotus. Their songs span continents and centuries and genres — Eastern European polyphony, American folk-ballads, political story songs from Africa, spiritual and popular song have all been part of the Vida repertoire.
