Message to Festival Volunteers

Lotus volunteersThanks for your interest in volunteering!

Established in 1994, the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival has become one of Bloomington’s largest, most beloved cultural events and is the only festival of its kind in the state of Indiana. It’s organized and administered by a small staff and by hundreds of volunteers. The 18th annual festival takes place Thursday, September 22 through Sunday, September 25, 2011.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of every festival — and so it is very important that volunteers commit to their assigned shift(s). In exchange for that commitment, you ensure the smooth operation of a wonderful event, and you’re able to attend the festival on Friday or Saturday night. You’ll also receive a button and t-shirt and that proudly mark you as a Lotus volunteer. To help ensure that your Lotus volunteer experience is a good one, please do the following:

▪ Check Important Dates

▪ Use our online volunteer application. [Note: the application is active only during Festival season and does not currently apply to other Lotus events.]

▪ Review the Festival Volunteer Policy, Volunteer Positions, and Frequently Asked Questions before submitting your application. We want to be certain that you have thoroughly reviewed our information about the exchange between the volunteers and the festival, including job descriptions and expectations.

Priority deadline for first consideration of shift positions is August 16, 2011. Applications will be accepted after this deadline, but will not receive first consideration for shift assignments. You will be notified via e-mail or phone of your shift assignment(s) in late August and asked to reply with a confirmation that you received your assignment.

All volunteers are required to attend a job-specific orientation on either September 15 or September 17.

Thanks again for your interest!
