Established in 1994, the Lotus Festival, a flagship event of the Lotus Foundation, is one of the oldest world music festivals in the United States and the only festival of its kind in the state of Indiana. The festival is well known for debuting world-music artists in the U.S. and has become a must-play festival for renowned, international performers and creative talents.

“As we look forward to 2020, we are excited to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of our Lotus Blossoms outreach program, as well as the 27th Annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival, which will bring another great array of world music to our doorstep” Tamara Loewenthal, Lotus executive director expressed. “We are incredibly grateful for all the community support from our wonderful sponsors and donors, our amazing volunteers, and our patrons.”

Lotus is also pleased to announce that Lotus in the Park, a Saturday highlight of the Lotus Festival featuring free concerts, crafts, and workshops, will be held at Bloomington’s newly constructed Switchyard Park.

According to Loewenthal, the new Switchyard Park will be the perfect site to host Lotus in the Park, as the park offers amenities for every age. She said Switchyard Park will provide an inviting setting for community members to enjoy the music and to explore the various craft activities that are central to Lotus in the Park outreach.

Hsiung Marler, Switchyard Park general manager commented, “We’re thrilled to see an exciting event like Lotus in the Park take advantage of Switchyard Park and look forward to a long history of great showcase activities.”
