[Bloomington, IN] – The Lotus Education and Arts Foundation is happy to announce that we have been approved for a $20,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support the 2021 Lotus World Music and Arts Festival. This award will support free programming at the festival, helping Lotus offer diverse multicultural music and arts experiences to underserved and economically disadvantaged groups within our community. The Lotus Education and Arts Foundation’s award is among 1,073 funded projects across America totaling nearly $25 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2021 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support this project from the Lotus Education & Arts Foundation,” said Arts Endowment Acting Chairman Ann Eilers. “Lotus is among the arts organizations across the country that have demonstrated creativity, excellence, and resilience during this very challenging year.”
“In the past year, as the pandemic has closed our physical doors, Lotus has been privileged to continue serving our mission, with support from grants such as this one from the National Endowment for the Arts,” Lotus Executive Director Tamara Loewenthal said. “Our focus continues to be sharing global music and art in a broad variety of settings, including virtually, to ensure that our community hears from and is inspired by diverse voices from across the globe.”
Established in 1994, the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival is one of the oldest world music festivals in the United States and the only festival of its kind in the state of Indiana. Lotus could not be more grateful for the supportive Lotus fans and sponsors who stuck with us during last year’s incredible virtual Festival. Lotus looks to our 28th Festival with great hope that we can safely gather again to enliven the streets of Bloomington with music from around the world.
