Lotus Receives BUEA Recover Forward Grant

Bloomington, IndianaThe Lotus Education & Arts Foundation is pleased to announce that we have received a 2021 Recover Forward Program Grant in the amount of $1850 from the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association (BUEA), a division of the City of  Bloomington. These funds will support the 2021 Lotus Blossoms World Bazaar Outreach Kits.

This year, Lotus will host a mostly virtual Blossoms World Bazaar Community Day on Saturday, April 10. The Bazaar will feature Lotus Blossoms World Bazaar Outreach Kits showcasing hands-on multicultural activities from community partners, with accompanying how-to videos posted to the Lotus website. Kits will also be distributed to all 4th and 5th graders in Monroe County elementary schools. Fourth graders usually have their own day at the Bazaar, but last year’s cancellations meant that current 5th graders also did not get to experience a Bazaar, so this content is especially important for these age groups.

“Our organization has been doing robust outreach programming since 1996,” Lotus Executive Director Tamara Loewenthal said. “The grant from the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association will give us additional resources to fund our Lotus Blossoms World Bazaar Outreach packets, a unique feature of our 2021 Bazaar.”

Lotus is grateful for the generous funding from the BUEA.  Established in 1992, BUEA contributes to economic development efforts in Bloomington’s urban core through its annual competitive grants and tax incentives for Bloomington Businesses. Over its 25+ year lifespan, the BUEA has spurred hundreds of millions of dollars in investment that has created or retained thousands of jobs.
