Rhys Jones and Nokosee Fields

Lotus Firebay 105 S Rogers Street, Bloomington, IN, United States

Tuesday, February 11th 7:00 P.M. @ Lotus Firebay Concert with Rhys Jones and Nokosee Fields - Old Time songs and tunes performed by a top-notch duo. Rhys Jones is a fiddler extraordinaire. He has won fiddle and band contests at The Appalachian String Band Festival (Clifftop), and is regarded as "one of the bright lights of the current generation of traditional performers." Having spent much of his childhood in southern West Virginia (where he learned from the older generation of musicians), Rhys is equally at home telling the stories of Appalachian music as he is performing on fiddle, banjo, and guitar. Nokosee Fields, a member of the Osage, Creek, and Cherokee Nations, is one of the most provocative and capable voices in the North American traditional music scene. A quest for balance shapes his work as he challenges the demands and vacuity of colonialist, capitalist structures and systems with the richness of his experience and upbringing. Nokosee also performs with The Onlies, Hard Drive, and The Nokosee Fields Trio. Price: Suggested admission at the door, $20 (sliding scale of $15 to $25). Cash Only.
